Japanese Music

I already introduced my favorite, Kanashimi yo Konnichiwa, in a previous blog post, so I thought I'd share another Yuki Saitou song, Anata ni Aitai, which is available on Spotify. I really like the chorus and instrumentals. I have to link this one again; it's too good. This song, Rage Your Dream, was the closing theme to Initial D, one of the first anime I ever watched with my friends early in high school. Although the music video is pretty weird, I love the song, and it definitely reminds me of my days as a ninth grader waiting for the weekend to come to watch the next episode.

If I had to choose, my favorite Japanese song would definitely be 悲 ( かな ) しみよこんにちは by Saitou Yuki, and it’s my most played song on Spotify. I found it from the opening sequence to what would become my favorite anime, めぞん 一刻 ( いっこく ) by Takahashi Rumiko. I have a video of me trying sing it at karaoke in Osaka (sake may have been involved).

皆さん!こんにちは!

はじめまして! My name is Nicholas Mungan, and I am a junior majoring in Classics, concentrating in Latin. I decided to start learning Japanese because I wanted to learn a language that was completely different from those with which I already have experience (Latin, Greek, and Spanish). I chose Japanese in particular because I visited Japan this summer and would love to go again but with less fear of becoming horribly lost due to not knowing the language. Also, I have seen a great deal of anime with my friends who themselves already know Japanese, and I would like to be able to match them.
