皆さん!こんにちは!
はじめまして!
My name is Nicholas Mungan, and I am a junior majoring in Classics, concentrating in Latin. I decided to start learning Japanese because I wanted to learn a language that was completely different from those with which I already have experience (Latin, Greek, and Spanish). I chose Japanese in particular because I visited Japan this summer and would love to go again but with less fear of becoming horribly lost due to not knowing the language. Also, I have seen a great deal of anime with my friends who themselves already know Japanese, and I would like to be able to match them.

Cool ~ I went to Japan this summer too, particularly the Kansai area! What part of Japan did you visit?
ReplyDeleteI find it really cool that your concentration is Latin and you're taking Japanese! It'll definitely give you a broader perspective on language learning as you noted in your post. I also relate to the desire of visiting Japan but not knowing the language well enough.
ReplyDeleteInteresting to see different language majors take Japanese. I've not yet been to Japan but I have friends who have worked there over the summer a few times and I've always been meaning to get out there.
